Terms of Use
Edge Esmeralda 2026 Agent Village
Effective May 30, 2026
Who provides the Agent Village
The Agent Village is provided by Edge Institute, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 99-2785973), as a research experiment. These terms are an agreement between you and Edge Institute, Inc. Contact: hello@edgecity.live.
Who can take part
The Agent Village is open to Edge Esmeralda 2026 attendees. To set one up, you verify a one-time code sent to the email on your accepted application, so use the same email you applied with. You must be 18 or older to set up an agent, and we rely on your Edge Esmeralda 2026 application for age. The Agent Village is not for anyone under 18.
This is an experiment
The Agent Village is a research experiment offered on a voluntary basis. It is provided as is and as available, with no warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We may change, pause, or end the experiment at any time.
Your agent can be wrong
Your agent generates responses using third-party AI models. Those responses can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Nothing your agent says is professional advice, whether legal, medical, or financial. Check important information yourself before you rely on it, and review actions your agent proposes to take on your behalf.
Using your agent responsibly
You agree to use your agent for your own participation in Edge Esmeralda 2026. You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, or harm other attendees or anyone else;
- try to reach another attendee's agent memory or EdgeOS profile without permission;
- generate or share content that breaks the law;
- work around the agent's privacy or access controls;
- run automated bulk activity unrelated to your own participation.
We may suspend or remove access to keep the experiment safe.
Your content and the research
You keep ownership of the content you create with your agent. By taking part, you give Edge Institute, Inc. permission to process your participation data, including the content of your messages, only to run the experiment, to produce research findings, and to publish those findings as open research. This permission also lets us share research data from the experiment, such as message excerpts and records of how agents were used, with our research partners for joint analysis and publication, and to share published findings with anyone who uses them. Nothing here transfers ownership of your original content. For how this works, see the Privacy Notice and the consent brief.
Research participation
Setting up your agent also means you agree to the consent brief. If the consent brief and these terms ever conflict on a research matter, the consent brief governs. For how long we keep your data, see the Privacy Notice.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in this section limits liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or anything that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows, Edge Institute, Inc. and the people who work on the Agent Village will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Agent Village, including reliance on your agent's output or actions. Because the Agent Village is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim relating to it will not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD 100) where the law allows such a cap.
Resolving disputes
If you have a concern, please contact hello@edgecity.live first, so we can try to resolve it informally. If it is not resolved within 30 days, either party may pursue available legal remedies.
If part of these terms does not hold
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms during the experiment and will share material changes in the Agent Village Telegram group. Continuing to use your agent after a change means you accept the update.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, where Edge Institute, Inc. is incorporated. If you are a California resident, we extend CCPA-style rights to you regardless of whether the CCPA applies to us as a nonprofit, and nothing in these terms limits rights you have under laws that apply to you.
